Expert Ti Ported Weymouth

expert ti bit

The Weymouth is one part of the double set, and should be used in conjunction with a bradoon. The Weymouth applies the curb and poll pressure in a double set and should fit snug on the horses mouth, the low port helps the bit follow the conformation of the horse mouth as this is fixed cheek it doesn’t give much relief to pressure to the tongue and so the port helps this, the 7cm shank is a standard length Weymouth shank, so not to be to harsh of a pressure or to less that the horse doesn’t respond to the instruction. The mouthpiece is 14mm titanium at the cheek so not to put to much pressure on the corners of the mouth, reducing to 10mm through the rest of the mouthpiece to make the most of the limited space in horses mouth when we have both Weymouth and bradoon fitting together

Titanium is an exceptionally strong material but unlike Stainless Steel and Copper alloys it has a much lower density meaning it is much lighter therefore meaning the bit weighs significantly less in the horses mouth than a bit of the equivalent design.  Titanium is often used in the medical sector in prosthetics due to its lack of toxicity, antibacterial and strength properties making it the ideal material for a horse bit.
